Despite the increase in the support, the Socialists would not achieve a clear majority in Parliament, as they have enjoyed the past four years, according to polls.
Eurosondagem A survey for the media SIC Renascensa Expresso and Radio, gave the party of Prime Minister Jose Socrates had 34.9 percent support, compared to 33.6 percent in the same poll last week.
The SPD fell to 31.6 percent of voting intentions, from 32.5 percent previously.
The third strongest party in voting intentions, the Left Bloc, which some analysts consider a potential ally of the Socialists, remained the same voting intention: 9.6 percent.
