Israeli artillery opened fire on south Lebanon by the rocket

The Katyusha rocket fell on an open field east of the town of Kiryat Shmona, in northern Israel, triggering a fire that has caused injuries, Israeli police said a source.

The shooting was claimed by a group linked to al Qaeda.

Hezbollah, which controls the southern part of Lebanon and against which the Jewish state fought a brief war in the summer of 2006 following the abduction of two Israeli soldiers, denied any involvement in the events.

Conflict between Israel and Hezbollah killed more than 1,200 people, mostly civilians, on the Lebanese side and more than 160 among Israelis, mostly soldiers.
