Reviews in Uruguay Mujica intended to regulate child labor and legalized abortion

Mujica, current senator and former leader of the revolutionary group Tupamaros who acted in the 70 and 80 in Uruguay, he referred to these ideas in the context of the campaign headed for a runoff election next November 29.

The idea of regulating child labor was criticized by the opposition National Party MP and former labor minister, Ana Lia Pineyrua, and the representative of the central workers' PIT-CNT to the National for the Eradication of Child Labor (CETI), a body linked to the Ministry of Labor, Ani Duran.

Both recalled that the proposal Mujica, for whom the fact that children work with their parents is much more dignified to have to go out and ask around, contradicts agreements signed by Uruguay with international agencies fighting child labor.

I disagree completely with it. If Mujica believes that boys in their education have to learn to work, the Committee does not agree, said Duran, who reports today told the daily El Observador.

Against the ILO. For his part, considered that the proposal Pineyrua Mujica know the requirements of the International Labor Organization (ILO), which prohibits work for children under 15, and contradicts any policy of employment. Mujica has shown that it is not a fit person to govern the country, said Rep. on the front-runner to succeed in the runoff of the next 29th of November with the leftist coalition Frente Amplio.

Meanwhile, American Institute of Children and Adolescents, a related entity of the Organization of American States, stressed that international suggests that States should maximize the minimum age for admission to employment. With that said the institution seeks to achieve full scholarship, the successful insertion in secondary and higher education, and labor market entry is worthy and successful.

For its part, the Chamber of Commerce, also cited by the newspaper today, there was favorable to the idea, since, according to its president, Alfonso Varela, said that some forms of work can prevent children from falling into the hands of cocaine base.

NEWS For abortion. The candidate is in favor of reinstating the discussion on the decriminalization of abortion, and rejected the machismo embedded in Uruguay, said the newspaper El Pais .

The idea legalizing abortion does not have consensus within the Broad Front, a coalition comprising socialists, communists, former Tupamaros and independent, among others. In fact, a law passed in 2008 that established the decriminalization was then vetoed by the current President of Uruguay, the doctor Tabare Vazquez.

The National Coordinating Board for Life, an organization of several groups anti-abortion, called for next Monday for a march in support of right to life, said its director, Nestor Martinez.
