The new giant Boeing made its maiden flight

Thousands of Boeing employees gathered at the airfield Paine Fields, near the floor of the firm located in The State of Washington, to attend the launch. The first delivery of an appliance that is key to the future of the company will be only in late 2010 due to several delays in the project, and will receive All Nipppon Airways.

The 787 ran final tests on its operation on Saturday and was allowed to fly. From the air the pilot Randy Neville Mike Carriker and sample a variety of flight control systems, hydraulic, structural, and engine stability and flight data transmitted in real time to a ground test equipment.

The flight is five hours, according to a Boeing commentator relaying the direct flight to the headquarters of the manufacturer. “But the drivers who will decide” and could be reduced to only two hours, he added.

Saturday during analysis the plane reached a top speed on land of 130 knots (240 kilometers per hour ) and the drivers came to lift the nose. “Our drivers told me that the plane behaved beautifully,” said Mike Delaney, vice president and chief engineer of the project 787.

Boeing fight for commercial supremacy with its European rival Airbus, and hopes that its 787 is the future vision for air transport instead of the larger and longer operating A380.

NEWS characteristics. The “Dreamliner”, medium size, having a car with two aisles, is Boeing”s first new model in over 10 years. Nearly half of the aircraft is built with lightweight composite materials, such as fiber reinforced resin carbon, compared to 12% on the Boeing 777, which contributes to greater fuel efficiency, the company said.

Depending on your configuration, the device can accommodate between 210 and 250 passengers and fly about 2,500 nautical miles without landing. Boeing says also that the Dreamliner will offer flights quieter because it has special sensors that control to some extent the reaction of the aircraft to turbulence.

The date for the first test flight was established in June after the program suffered its fifth delay. Project 787 was launched in April 2004 and is planned to deliver the first aircraft in the first half of 2008.

But competition from Airbus will be a tough test for the “Dreamliner”, which must cope with the new A350 mid-2013. Boeing said it already has 840 orders from 55 customers for, as already seen at 787 as the “new commercial airplane, fastest selling in the history of aviation.”

United Airlines announced last week it would buy 25 “Dreamliner”, as 25 of the A350, with option to buy 50 more of each.

The number of delays in the Boeing 787 program caused a loss of $ 1,600 million in the third quarter of 2009 and had cut its profit forecast by more than a third.

S7 Some companies, like Russia, LCAL rented it from Dubai and Qantas of Australia canceled their orders.
