When undertaking a car insurance policy, assure that you have fully understood the extent of coverage your policy provides, in the case of an accident. Thoroughly read the insurance policy and ask either of your insurance broker and insurance agent, to explain to you any clause which you might not have been able to understand. This will ensure that if any untoward incident, like a car accident or injury happens, you know what and how much to claim for.

In case you have got into an accident, immediately contact your insurance agent. If possible, take the pictures of the accident or related injuries, as they might be handy for the accident insurance claims. Try to collect as many details about the accident as feasible, such as taking down the contact details of the eyewitness, as all these things will help you when making car accident insurance claims. If there are other people or cars involved in the accident, make sure of taking down their insurance details too.

File for the accident insurance claim as soon as possible, without any delay after the accident. This is because of the fact that the insurance companies have a definite time period within which the insurer has to file the claims. If that time period expires, for any reason, the insurer will not be eligible for making any accident insurance claims.

Once the accident insurance claim procedure has begun, remember to make written notes of all the dealings that you might have with the insurance company in the future. Be very honest in your dealings with the insurance agents, as lying when making accident insurance claims can be accepted very negative and you may be even denied the claims. In addition, retain all the bills of expenses incurred on account of the accident, such as bills pertaining to the repair of the damaged vehicle or bills of the various medical treatments that have been undertaken on account of accident injuries.

In all accident cases, it is the insurance companies which assess the losses and accordingly make an offer to the policy holder with regards to the value of his claim. However, be very careful while accepting such offers. This is because the insurance providers would want to settle the claims for a much lower amount. They often propose lesser estimates of the losses occurred than what have actually been incurred.

A motorcycle is a means of transport for many people nowadays starting from teenagers and finishing with seasoned persons. As any other transport, riding a motorcycle requires obtaining proper insurance policy. Motorcycle insurance is obligatory as the number of accidents with their participation rises each year.

Before choosing a motorcycle insurance company you should be aware of the amount of coverage and cases of insurance stipulated by each issuer individually. The amount of coverage depends on a number of factors which can be dwindled towards a few most general. The first thing each insurance provider takes into account is a person’s age. The older you are, the more possibility you’ll get beneficial coverage. The next thing is the rider’s experience in driving motorcycle. ‘Newly-born’ motorcyclists are less preferable for the insurance company as they are more tended to get into accidents.

The third thing is the rider’s occupation. If he has a stable place of work and gets stable income, most likely he will realize regular premium payments. Unemployed individuals are a risk for the insurance company. The forth thing is the place of residence of a motorcyclist. Those living in the countryside area are less exposed to road accidents what can’t be said about city dwellers where traffic is heavy.

What is more, technical characteristics of a motorcycle are of importance for the insurer. Make and model of the bike form the total value. Sports bikes are more valuable than usual ones. The location where a motorcycle is garaged plays a great importance for the insurance provider. If a person doesn’t have a garage, this raises the chances of vandalism or theft.

This is probably the easiest task I have ever set myself to do ever since I started reviewing vehicles. The name Lamborghini has over the years become synonymous with fast, heavy, flashy and beautifully made pieces of machine. As a consequence, it comes as no exception that the two are bound to be pace setters in the industry. The two really set a benchmark in their own right in the fascinating dream car segment because alberta insurance is really relatively affordable when it comes to this car brand.

The Gallardo Bicolore is basically a continuation of the Balboni with the main exception being the absence of the body stripe and the Balboni autograph on the interior. Like its predecessor, it is also a rear wheel drive and it has a contracting back roof. However, the Bicolore is approximately $28,800 cheaper, with only the option of paddle-shifted e-gear transmission. It also has a transparent engine cover with a push-button nose jack to lift it higher in order to avoid speed bumps. The car comes primarily in black, white, orange and green with a trim leather-contrasting interior. Taking a drive in this beast is quite breath taking with the only exception being the handling. The seats are not as comfortable when going around the corners and the vehicle is generally heavy on the turn. It is however very easy to steer considering it is a two-tone beast. It however make up for this by its quick acceleration an smooth ride along straight stretches of road.

On the other hand, the Spyder Performante is a four-wheel-drive convertible version of the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera. As its predecessor, it is primarily made of carbon fiber thus making it much lighter than normal Lamborghinis. It has larger nostrils than the Superleggera denoting a rise horsepower. Taking the Performante along the same route as the Bicolore, its stiff yet non-reclining seats, were much comfortable on the turn. The vehicle was more approachable an d easier to drive around the corners with the only blemish being the fact that it tends to under steer despite its rear-wheel configuration.

When you buy a car you want it to be insured against any accidents and other troubles. Auto insurance can be a rather expensive offer. That is why you should do your homework properly to find the insurance provider who proposes advantageous terms and has understandable and legal policy. But before closing any deals, you should learn that there are several types of car insurance.

The following three types of auto insurance are most wide spread and understandable for average citizens. First type, and the most hassle-free, is third party car insurance. Third party vehicle insurance is mandatory for all car owners because it is claimed by law. The essence of it states that in case you get into accident and it’s your fault, you’ll have to pay off all expenses to the aggrieved party and vehicle itself. If someone damages your car, you can’t claim to your insurance company for reimbursement. You don’t get reimbursement in case of car theft either.

The next type of car insurance is more flexible. It is called third party, theft and fire insurance. If someone damages your car, all the expenses will be covered. On the other hand, if you cause damage to the other car, the aggrieved party will get the pay off. Also, your car is insured against thefts and damages caused by fire.

Moreover, there exist the type of insurance that covers almost all malfunctions and damages. This is called comprehensive insurance. It is more expensive that the above mentioned two, however, it gives you the flexibility you need. Car accidents, malfunctions, dents and disrepairs can be covered by comprehensive insurance. When you are in difficult situation, you can just call the insurance provider and you’ll receive help almost immediately.

Can a person paying a bank loan for a car give up the insurance company imposed by the bank?

The instability of banking and car insurance services hit all financial institutions customers – both depositors and borrowers. Dozens of insurance companies, which were pets of banks during the credit boom, are in the process of liquidation now. It’s time to give up the insurer, if you don’t want to be without payments in case of an accident, even if the bank opposes.

Is it worth the candle?

Recently, insurance companies are often “failing” in the middle of the insurance contract period or they have difficulties, which the bank doesn’t want to notice. But even a normal company can be annoying with delaying payments or excessive investigations that could suggest to a client change the company.

Termination of an insurance contract in the middle of the term will not bring good news for a borrower. First of all, the company should take 30-35% of 100% the insurance premium amount for conducting of the case that is not returned. The remaining money will be refunded minus the period during which the contract acted. But if any payments took place during the period of the contract, they will be also kept back.

The law states that the insurance is obligatory, but a bank cannot impose an insurance company.

Struggle with bank

The main difficulty we may face in such a situation is the resistance of a bank, because it’s almost impossible to insure loaned automobile without its assistance. Lawyers recommend to “raise” the item, which shows the obligation to insure in a specific company, described in the loan agreement, before starting a dispute with bankers. The most critical case is when any concrete insurance company is marked in the document. Such a situation may occur if credit conditions were due to any discounts and a fixed ‘triangle’ is necessary to perform all action parameters: insurance company – sales center – bank. If a borrower thinks that something’s wrong with the company, they will have to make some efforts to prove it to the bank.

“Car insurance rates are always changing, whether from market conditions or because of changes in a driver’s personal life,” says Rob Klapper, insurance.com CEO. “Buying a new home, getting married, even growing a year older – these are all things that signal a need to shop and compare quotes to see if you’re entitled to a lower rate.”

Insurance.com recommends drivers review their current policy to: — Make sure they’re getting all the discounts they’re entitled to, from good grades to paying online, — Adjust their coverage based on the value of their vehicle, — Set a higher deductible, if they can afford it; and, — Watch their credit, as that can affect premium price as well.

Reminding drivers to regularly review their car insurance is part of a greater effort by insurance.com to educate drivers on the financial importance of comparing car insurance quotes. Car insurance shoppers who visit insurance.com will discover:

If you drive your car and cause an accident, your insurance will pay for the damages you cause, as defined in your policy. If your friend crashes your car, you may assume that he, and his car insurance, will pay for damages. In fact, you are on the hook. Here are a number of accident scenarios and what you can expect to happen.

Scenario No. 1: Your friend drives your car and causes an accident with minimal damage

If you loan your car to a friend, he causes an accident and both of you have car insurance, your insurance will pay and you’ll have to pay your deductible. The reason? Your auto insurance policy insures your vehicle plus “you, any relative, and anyone else using your car if the use is (or reasonably believed to be) with your permission.”

Scenario No. 2: Your insured friend drives your car and causes an accident with a lot of damage

Let’s say the accident your friend causes results in serious bodily injury to others and property damage. Liability coverage consists of two parts: bodily injury liability and physical damage liability. The driver’s policy covers the driver and all passengers in the vehicle for bodily injury. The car owner’s liability covers property damage caused by his or her car. Liability insurance also covers the cost of your legal fees in the event that you are sued.

But if the damage exceeds your insurance liability limits, the courts can attach your personal assets, such as your home, to recover damages. Liability coverage won’t pay for damages beyond the limit for which you are insured.

Cases in which you and your friend share the cost of the accident are known as “pro rata.” If your friend was at fault, your insurance companies can share the cost. For example, say your friend causes $11,000 in property damage while driving your car. You have $25,000 in property damage coverage and your friend has $15,000; total coverage is $40,000. You and your friend may share the cost proportionally. Initially, your insurance would likely pay the full cost of the accident. It would then seek compensation from your friend’s insurer to recover his or her share.

Scenario No. 3: Your uninsured friend drives your car and causes a lot of damage

Lending your car to an uninsured friend can land you in a world of hurt. In this case, your uninsured friend has put you in a really bad spot. If the damage your friend causes exceeds your policy limits, the injured party can come after you for medical and property-damage expenses.

Scenario No. 4: Your friend drives your car without your permission and crashes it

You’re not likely to be held accountable for the damages because your friend borrowed your vehicle without your knowledge. In this case, your friend’s insurance (assuming he or she has it) will kick in first. If your friend isn’t covered, you’ll probably need to use your collision insurance to cover the damages to your own vehicle and your liability insurance would cover damage to others’ property. Bear in mind that insurance companies will assume a friend has permission to use your car unless there are clear indications that you denied permission, such as a drunken friend who drives away in your car without your knowledge.

Scenario No. 5: Your car is stolen and then crashed

If the thief crashes into someone or something, you won’t be held responsible for the damages done to other people and their property, but you probably will have to use your collision insurance to pay for the damage to your car. Don’t count on the thief having auto insurance, let alone enough money to spring for repairs and medical expenses. Even if the thief has insurance, his company won’t pay for his criminal act.

Deciphering liability across state lines

If you hold the minimum auto liability coverage required in your state and are involved in an accident in another state that requires higher minimum coverages or other coverage (such as personal injury protection), your policy will automatically increase to meet that state’s minimum coverage requirements.

For example, if you’re a Connecticut driver (where minimum liability coverage is $20,000 of bodily injury protection per person, $40,000 of bodily injury protection per accident and $10,000 of property damage per accident, or 20/40/10, as it’s often called) and are involved in an accident in New York (which requires 25/50/10 of liability coverage), your insurance will automatically extend to meet New York’s requirements. This boost can be helpful, especially when you cause a large amount of property damage.

Some states restrict the ability of their citizens to sue one another for pain and suffering after a car accident. Puerto Rico (a U.S. territory) and 12 states have “no-fault” laws. These laws mean that your car insurance must pay for bodily injury damages no matter who’s at fault in an accident. However, these same states allow their citizens to litigate against folks from other states after a car accident.

For example, you are limited in your ability to sue for damages if you live in Pennsylvania. When buying your auto coverage you have two choices of liability: “full tort” or “limited tort.” If you choose “limited tort,” you will pay less in premiums but you won’t be able to sue another Pennsylvanian for pain and suffering unless you’re seriously injured and your medical bills exceed a specified minimum amount. What constitutes a serious injury is outlined in your car insurance policy. If you choose full tort, your premiums will be more but you will be able to sue no matter the amount of your damages.

Throw out the rulebook if someone from another state crashes into you. Even if you have Pennsylvania “limited tort,” you’ll be able seek compensation for pain and suffering in the court system if someone from outside Pennsylvania crashes into you.

Is there any DUI forgiveness?

DUI car insuranceSome car insurance companies will forgive your first at-fault car accident, but none will ignore a DUI conviction. However, insurers vary in how much hurt they’re going to put on you. Some will cancel your policy, or refuse to renew it, after learning of your conviction. If that happens, you’ll be forced to look for car insurance with two dark marks on your record – a DUI and a cancellation.

But other insurers will keep you as a customer – for a price.

“Every insurance company is different in how they treat a DUI and how they price it,” says Pete Moraga, spokesperson for the Insurance Information Network of California. “This is one area where it really pays to shop around. Make calls. Go on the Internet and eventually you will find a company that best suits your needs until the DUI disappears from your record.”

For example, if you’re insured with Progressive, you will not face cancellation or nonrenewal due to a DUI conviction, but you’re likely to face a rate increase. Progressive reviews rates on a case-by-case basis. It will weigh multiple factors such as your age, gender, driving history and vehicle model.

State Farm reviews DUIs on a case-by-case basis, too. But the outcome also depends on which subsidiary you’re with. If you have a preferred policy with State Farm Mutual Insurance Co. and receive a DUI, State Farm will likely move you into State Farm Fire & Casualty, which is its standard-policy company for riskier drivers and higher rates. For more, read how a DUI conviction affects your insurance.

How long will a DUI dog me?

Although a DUI may remain on your criminal record for the rest of your life, insurance companies will usually only see what’s on your state’s department of motor vehicle (DMV) record. When your DUI is eventually cleared from your DMV record, you will once again be able to get cheaper car insurance rates.

Each state determines how long it will keep a DUI on your record. In most states, an alcohol- or drug-related conviction will remain on your DMV record anywhere from five to 10 years. For example, California, Florida and New York will keep it on your record for 10 years, while Arizona keeps it for five years. But some states are much stricter, like New Mexico, where a DUI conviction will remain on your record for 55 years. Your state’s DMV will be able to tell you how long a DUI conviction remains on your record.

Will I end up in my state’s high-risk pool?

Each state has what’s called a “high-risk” or assigned-risk pool for risky drivers. States require car insurance companies to participate in these pools in proportion to the amount of business they do in each state. Each insurer must accept the motorists assigned to it, retaining the profit or absorbing the loss that comes with that customer.

You’ll land in a high-risk pool when you can’t find a private insurer that will sell you a policy. But this is meant to be your last option. You’ll pay a high premium and secure only the minimum liability insurance you must have by law to drive. And you won’t find any money-saving options here – you’ll have to wait it out.

But don’t panic. Your first DUI will not necessarily land you in your state’s high-risk pool. However, if you have numerous speeding tickets, traffic violations and more than one DUI on your record, you may find yourself swimming in the high-risk pool and there’s not much you can do about it. At that point, you generally can’t find car insurance in the “voluntary market” until your driving record improves.
